St. Mary the Virgin, Davyhulme, is a beautiful Grade 2 Listed building housing a thriving mainstream Anglican Church in the leafy suburbs of Manchester close to the Trafford Centre. .
Although we are an Anglican Church our doors are open to everyone, regardless of religious persuasion and all are most welcome to attend our various services. We are a Dementia Friendly Church.
There is something of interest for everyone, and St. Mary’s has many families within it’s congregation with children and parents participating together. We also work closely with St Mary's CE Primary School and they visit us regularly, have special services here and our clergy visit school too. We have a Mothers Union branch, links with scouts, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows. .Each school day morning there is a Play Group in the hall. Please take a look at our calendar for current events.
We hold concerts, social breakfasts and have a 'Band in Residence' . We also have a modern Church Hall which is available for hire either for regular meetings or occasional use such as Childrens Parties and Baptism parties..
St Mary's is a popular venue for Baptisms and Weddings and also has weekly active links with the exciting learning community at St Mary's CE Primary School.
On our web site you will find information about funerals. We have well kept gardens and a garden of remembrance where flowers can be laid by any individual and ashes can be interred by arrangement.
We are the closest church to Trafford General Hospital and patients and staff from the hospital regularly attend St. Mary’s.
We have a Partnership Agreement with the Evangelical-Lutheran Parish of Harmala, in Tampere, Finland.
St. Mary’s has good facilities for people with mobility and other additional needs with a disabled toilet, baby changing facilities and an induction loop system installed for those with hearing difficulties. Large print service sheets and hymn books are available upon request.
The Church is open for servcies at 10 a.m. on a Wednesday and a Sunday. At other times you may find our doors open too as we move forward in to the new times ahead in 2024. Our grounds are open all year round for visiting the Garden of Remembrance and a general opportuntity to enjoy the open space for quiet moments. There are 2 benches overlooking tha Garden of remembrance. All visitors are welcome. regardless of faith . for private prayer, meditation, or to just look around. Our volunteers can be seen around the grounds helping with maintenace and gardening and will gladly say hello or respect the quiet space for your peaceful time.
