February 2018

Dear parent / carer

Welcome back after the half term break. We hope that you and your families had some exciting times!

Just letting you know a few dates for your diary.

Our last session for this half term is Monday 26 March.  We are then closed for 2 weeks, opening again on 16 April.

We have many events happening at church over the Easter time to which you are all most welcome.  In particular we would like to tell you about our Good Friday activities on 30 March starting at 12 mid-day in the church hall with lunch (fish fingers & chips) and lots of craft for children of all ages.  We will also be planting our Easter garden and have a quiet area for reading. At 1.00 pm we are all invited into church for a very short children’s service.  Craft activities, hot cross buns and hot drinks for adults will follow the hall after this service until 2.30 pm when all are invited to join our main congregation in church until 3.00 pm.

For catering reasons, we would be grateful if you could let us know if you would like to join us on Good Friday and we look forward to welcoming.

During the Easter break we will be having a Spring Fair on Saturday 7 April 10.00 am – 1.00pm.  There will be lots of stalls, a few games for children, bacon or sausage barms and hot / cold drinks available. Play & Stay will be having a Teddy Tombola to raise funds for a new safety fence in the church hall.  Hope you will be able to come along for a fun Saturday morning.

We hope you like the new ‘self-service’ arrangements for children’s drinks.  It would be helpful if you could put any empty or used cups either on the hatch or the bottom of the trolley. Thank you.

Unfortunately, inflation has caught up with us!  The rising cost of replacing play and craft items plus drinks and snacks for children and grown-ups means that from April we will have to increase our price a little.  After the Easter break the cost per Play and Stay session will be £1.50 per family.

Lastly, a note about safety. Play and Stay sessions can be very busy and although we do our very best to make the church hall and church a safe place for your children to play, we would ask for your help with this each Monday.

As always, we welcome any comments / feedback for you regarding our group and how to make it fun for you and your children.

Kind regards

Yvonne & all Play & Stay helpersThe parish church of St Mary the Virgin, Davyhulme
