07-McCann, Eric

1898 – 26th August 1917

Eric was born in Crumpsall in 1898.

His parents were Charles born in Crumpsall  in 1872 , who was a Canvasser Guide, Protection Society and a Money Lender and Bertha Markham born in Manchester in 1872.

Charles died in 1951 and Bertha in 1953.

Eric had 2 siblings:

  • William 1896 -1917
  • Dorothy 1900 – 1981

In 1911 Eric was living at 7 Balfour Road.  

Eric joined the 2nd/7th Battalion of The King’s (Liverpool Regiment) service number 269479.

He Died of Wounds on the 26th August 1917.

He is buried at the Department du Nord, Nord-Pas-de Calais, France.

He was awarded the Victory and British Medals.

He is remembered   with Honour at The Estaires Communal Cemetery and Extension.
